(L.A. Times) – This is a very different city from L.A. in crisis in August 2003. This city has a brand new mayor. So where’s the L.A. in crisis now?

Here’s where it starts.

On Tuesday, the L.A. Times hosted a town hall that invited everyone to tell them about the crisis they see and the solutions they need here. The town hall was moderated by former Times reporter Tony Perry.

“It was a very informative experience,” Perry said. “I think it’s an opportunity for residents to speak directly to their leaders, and I think that’s what this town hall was all about – just residents communicating directly and directly to the mayor of the city of Los Angeles.”

In the weeks since the L.A. Times published a list of 10 problems facing California, the number of citizen letters of complain have climbed to more than 2,000.

The public’s participation in the crisis has largely followed L.A. government’s lead.
