Roger Federer Will Not Play Tennis Again

Roger Federer announces his retirement from the ATP Tour and grand slams

With the official announcement that Rafael Nadal has signed new contracts with the clay court stars, one name was quickly brought to the fore – Roger Federer.

The Swiss legend’s decision to step away from the tour after having won all four Grand Slam titles and being a multiple Grand Slam champion for a record 23 successive seasons will be greeted with great sadness amongst many of the fans.

Not only because he was always a favourite for the Open Championship, but because they knew and loved the man who has also won 16 Grand Slam titles.

The legend’s decision to leave the tour after having won all four Grand Slams over the last four seasons would not come as much of a surprise to anyone who has followed the career of the five time Grand Slam champion.

Though it has taken some years to finally come to grips with it, Federer had been saying at the time of his retirement that his body was telling him to hang up the racquet.

After hearing that his body was telling him to hang up the racquet and not to have the body which gave him so much pleasure after all of the matches played and the many grand slam that he had accomplished.

The decision would have to be made after his body finally told him to hang up the racquet.

So, in the year of 2017 when Nadal has said that he wanted to play more tennis, Federer also wanted to end his tennis career.

Federer has admitted that he will miss the tennis but would not say that his body was not telling him to hang up the racquet. “The body knows what it wants,” he said. “It is very clear. And it wants me to stop playing for me, for my family and for my team. And I know that my time is very limited and the body knows what it wants.”
