Democrats just shrug about Biden’s border crisis but the numbers don’t lie:
Vox’s Andrew Prokop writes that it’s true:
Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s campaign has not released a single estimate about the total number of unauthorized immigrants who are trying to cross the border without authorization. However, a comprehensive 2017 count conducted by NBC News and the non-partisan Migration Policy Institute found that 3.3 million unauthorized immigrants were apprehended trying to enter the United States without legal authorization.
A new CBS News/New York Times poll shows Sanders voters overwhelmingly backing a “comprehensive immigration reform” (70%) while Biden’s is 50/40. The latest poll also shows that Biden (38%) has a bigger lead among white voters than Sanders (34%).
Also, an Economist/YouGov poll shows that 52% of Sanders voters who prefer a “comprehensive immigration reform” think it should be passed before the 2020 election, while 55% of Biden voters do.
A new Quinnipiac poll shows Sanders beats Biden in a head to head race.
The Hill poll shows Sanders beats Biden 51-42 among primary voters, compared to the 51-44 spread for the 2020 Democratic primary.
NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll shows:
Biden leads Sanders 41-38 among Democratic voters;
Biden leads Sanders 33-32 among white Democratic voters;
Sanders leads Biden 50-42 among non-white Democratic voters; and
Biden leads Sanders 53-40 among Sanders-leaning voters.
The big picture is that Democrats want to pass a “comprehensive immigration reform” to deal with the country’s illegal immigration crisis, but there’s no way that it’s going to happen in the foreseeable future.
But even if it did, the math is pretty simple.
If you want to stop all immigration, you need to be able to say “no.” It is a zero-sum game — either illegal immigration is closed off by law or it continues its unabated march.
If you give illegal immigration amnesty, then you’ve just opened the floodgates for millions more.
