From LeBron to Legend, celebs praise Mayor-elect Karen Bass: ‘CONGRATULATIONS QUEEN!’
The Los Angeles Mayoral race is far from over despite the resignation of Mayor-elect, Karen Bass, on Friday.
LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Mayoral race is far from over despite the resignation of Mayor-elect, Karen Bass on Friday.
“We’ve all been extremely humbled by the support of the Los Angeles community,” Bass said. “I respect the process and I appreciate everyone’s contributions. There’s going to be a thorough process and I will be making decisions based on facts.”
The resignation of an incumbent mayor comes with about a month still to go before the June runoff.
There has also been a great outpouring of support from stars such as John Legend, Chris Rock and Michael B. Jordan who have all donated to Bass’ campaign.
“I was honored to be invited to an incredible dinner with Mayor-elect Bass,” Legend said in a statement. “I thank her for all that she has done for the LA I love and hope that she continues to make a difference by continuing to create a great City for all of LA.”
Bass told ABC News, “If I am the Mayor of Los Angeles, there will be a lot of things that will be different. I’m willing to make some hard choices to ensure that LA continues to thrive and succeed as a great City that people love.”

Actor Chris Rock called Bass an “incredible ally” who represented Southern California in a “tough” race.

Rock added, “Karen, you did such a great job representing L.A. and the Southland. Now it’s time for you to get back to the people you served and represented.”
